The new Lafayette Street store draws inspiration from the Asics heritage, as well as the art, music, fashion and Japanese culture that influence AsicsTiger. The 1,900-square-foot store carries the AsicsTiger footwear, apparel and accessories and will carry exclusive limited releases.

“We’re incredibly proud of the global reach of the AsicsTiger brand, and we’re excited to be expanding our footprint into the US market,” said Shoda Ryoji, Senior General Manager, Global Lifestyle Division of Asics Corporation. “The unique energy of New York City, and specifically SoHo, breeds some of the most influential lifestyle and cultural trends, and it’s the perfect location for our growing brand.”

The AsicsTiger store houses a shoe wall made with natural marble, a white center table that features the AsicsTiger logo in black, a neon yellow line that segments the interior into a grid-like layout, and art pieces by mural artist and painter Carl Rauschenbach on display throughout the store.

In addition, the Japanese footwear company will host in-store events that will introduce customers to new themes in fashion, lifestyle, health and music. Asics for the store opening invited Tokyo-based artist Sneakerwolf to perform his signature Kanji-Graphy a live painting performance with a 1.5 meter high giant Japanese paper latern.

Asics currently operates two stores in New York City at 519 Broadway in SoHo and 420 W 14th Street in the Meatpacking District, and earlier this year operated a concept pop up store for its Jyuni Black collection at its SoHo location.
