BHV Marais opens in Dubai

Dubai has now got its very own BHV Marais. The largest Emirates city saw the opening of the Parisian franchise store at the City Walk shopping centre at the end of March. It is the second BHV Marais location outside of France, but the first since the department store’s strategic repositioning in 2014.

A condensed version of its Parisian flagship is laid out over 6000 square metres: the unique blend of both home decoration and fashion labels that is the store’s distinctive feature. Under the eye of architect Kristina Zanic, the building’s futuristic aesthetic extends from inside to out across its two floors, recreating an interior environment very similar to that of the French store.

Contrasting with the modern exterior, the cosily-designed interior features aisles with brick walls, wood, and metallic furniture reminiscent of a Parisian studio. Here, the BHV Marais reveals its selection of accessible brands and premium labels.

Opened in partnership with ADMIC, who opened the first BHV store in Beirut in 1998, the franchise may announce further openings in the Near and Middle East regions. The Galeries Lafayette group intends to develop the modernized BHV Marais as it has done with its principal brand, which has been present in Dubai since 2009.

“After a successful repositioning of our rue de Rivoli flagship in Paris, the opening of the BHV Marais in Dubai demonstrates the international potential of the brand and underscores the distinctiveness of its identity,” stated Galeries Lafayette CEO Nicolas Houzé. “With this opening, we are reinforcing our presence in the Middle East, whilst we are currently finishing the remodeling of our Galeries Lafayette flaghip in Dubai and preparing the opening of the Galeries Lafayette in Doha for the beginning of next year,” he concluded.
