Benetton full-year net profit rises 16 percent to 145 million euros

MILAN, Feb 21, 2008 (AFP) - Italian clothing firm Benetton said Thursday February 21th that that full-year net profits rose 16.0 percent to 145.0 million euros (214 million dollars), beating a market consensus of 141.6 million.

The group said that 2007 sales rose 9.1 percent to 2.085 billion euros. A consensus of analysts' estimates had indicated sales of 2.079 billion euros, it said in a statement.

Clothing sales rose 10.3 percent to 1.956 billion euros, with retail sales up 5.2 percent to 413 million euro and wholesale sales up 11.8 percent to 1.543 billion euros.

Benetton confirmed that it expects 2008 sales to rise 6-8 percent.

The company also said it has asked to be de-listed from the Frankfurt stock exchange.

Benetton will release final full-year results on March 19.
