Bentley tees off new Golf collection

British luxury automotive brand Bentley is turning its attention from book-matching veneers and tuning W12 engines to exquisitely crafted four irons and putters.

Bentley Golf is a new bespoke collection of clubs, bags and accessories, developed in partnership with Professional Golf Europe and which, like its cars, can be fully customized.

For example, the irons are hand-forged in Ichikawa, Japan, a town that has been honing its metal working skills since a samurai sword was the must-have item for any gentleman around town.

The choice of that particular town and its craftspeople is to guarantee something that feels unique in the hands and that ensures consistency. And in another example of drawing on the best of traditional techniques and blending them with cutting-edge technologies, each iron is completed using CNC milling processes.

Clients can choose between performance steel and graphite for the shafts and there are a host of custom leathers for creating the perfect grip.

In a nod to Bentley's own design ethos and aesthetic signifiers, haunch lines and curves from the company's best known models have been replicated across the range as have metal details such as knurling that can be seen on the club end caps. The caddies, matching luggage and other accessories in the range are also finished with the diamond quilting synonymous with Bentley interiors.

When the collection goes on sale in September it will consist of Irons from 3 through to PW, and woods including a Driver with three loft options, a Utility, a Hybrid and a fairway, plus three wedges and a putter.

A tour bag, cart bag and stand bag will be offered with a matching flight cover, plus a coordinating holdall and shoe bag.

While for those that already have a full set of pro clubs there are a host of Bentley-branded and designed accessories including an umbrella, a sterling silver ball marker and even a leather scorecard holder.
