Bergdorf Goodman last week launched a Jahnkoy x Puma pop up installation at its Men’s Store. The installation, which opened during NYFW: Men’s, will remain at the store for two weeks.

The installation supports the collaboration between Puma and Jahnkoy. The two parties have collaborated in the past for Jahnkoy’s fall 2017 collection. Puma supplied apparel and footwear to the brand’s designer, Maria Kazakova, who customized each piece, including sneakers with hand-stitched patterns and feathers.

Jahnkoy and Bergdorf launched the installation with a dance performance and music supplied by kora players.

Born in Siberia, Russia, Kazakova studied womenswear at the British Higher School of Art and Design in Moscow, attended a one year program at Central Saint Martins and spent 2 years at the Parsons MFA “Fashion Design and Society” Program. Kazakova’s studies led to the launch of her label Jahnkoy, which means ‘New Spirit Village.’ The designer produces men’s garments that are inspired by indigenous traditions, such as Central Asian and North African cultures.

In addition, Jahnkoy is one of the 8 finalists of the 2017 LVMH Prize.

The Jahnkoy pop up installation will remain on the third floor of Bergdorf’s Men’s Store through July 21.
