One of the UK's largest pure-play online, own-brand fashion retailers, Boohoo.com, has announced the appointment of Sara Murray to its board as non-executive director.

Murray is described as a "serial entrepreneur" - she has founded, grown and then sold three technology companies. Murray's first business was Ninah Consulting, a specialist management consultancy that focused on pharmaceutical, retail and financial services strategy. It was sold to ZenithOptimedia, a subsidiary of Publicis Groupe, in 2003.

She also founded and built Inspop Ltd, owner of online insurance marketplace Confused.com, which was sold to Admiral Group in 2002. Murray is also behind Buddi, the leading remote health and location monitoring technology business, which she started in 2005.

Peter Williams, Boohoo non-executive Chairman, commented: "I am delighted to welcome Sara to the Company. Her experience in founding and developing successful technology businesses will be a great asset to the board. Sara's entrepreneurial spirit perfectly reflects boohoo's culture and growth ambitions and we very much look forward to working with her."

Sara Murray commented: "Boohoo is a very exciting business and I am delighted to be joining the team at this point and contributing to the next stages of the Company's development."

Boohoo is currently expanding and just launched its first standalone menswear site, boohooMAN. The company also opened a pop-up store in Los Angeles' Weswood Village in the two weeks leading up to the iconic Coachella festival.
