“I am extremely pleased to join C&A as managing director for Germany. With a strong team by my side, I plan to continue the successful transformation of C&A Germany,” said Bouyaala.

He will take over as country director at the beginning of the new financial year on 1 March 2018. Tjeerd van der Zee will subsequently focus on his role as chief financial officer on the European Executive Board and will work closely with C&A Europe’s new CEO Alain Caparros.

Bouyaala was most recently a member of the management of Transgourmet Poland, where he was responsible for the Cash & Carry business. Prior to that, he held several roles at Rewe Group including managing director for Croatia. He left Rewe in 2015.

C&A has nearly 2,000 stores worldwide, including 1,500 in Europe, 479 in Germany and 130 in Austria, as well as a total of 60,000 employees. The company has also a presence in Brazil, Mexico and China.
