Cédric Charlier collaborates with Fruit of the Loom

Published

The Paris-based Belgian designer has created a four-piece unisex collection for Fruit of the Loom. This is the first time the American brand, which is known for its affordable underwear and t-shirts, has ever collaborated with a fashion designer.

It was Cédric Charlier who approached the brand to work on a collaboration; the Belgian designer has been a fan of Fruit of the Loom since the 1980s. The capsule collection features tweaks on the classic Fruit of the Loom t-shirts with new elements like double breast pockets and asymmetrical seams. The shirts come in an on-trend shade of pink and striped colors.

The biggest departure from Fruit of the Loom’s other offerings however is the price point of the collection. The Cédric Charlier-designed shirts will retail for $120 to $135, with three packs selling for $260. Fruit of the Loom’s t-shirts typically retail for under $10 and are sold at the likes of Walmart.

Despite the price difference, Charlier says Fruit of the Loom’s emphasis on quality and comfort is in keeping with his brand. Charlier’s collection for Fruit of the Loom will be available in November as part of his spring/summer 2018 collection. The capsule collection will be sold at upscale retailers such as Bergdorf Goodman and Neiman Marcus
