Celebrity skin specialist launches anti-pollution skincare line

Published

Skin specialist Dr. Barbara Sturm has launched a line of anti-pollution skincare drops based on her practice of molecular cosmetics.

Anti-pollution drops - Dr. Barabara Sturm

According to a release from the brand, the anti-pollution drops are designed to protect skin from air pollution as well as from blue light damage caused by cell phones and computers. They join a portfolio of non-surgical skincare offerings from Sturm, a celebrity favorite for her skincare solutions.

Celebrities known for using Sturm's products include Kate Moss, Cher, Gwyneth Paltrow, Rosie Huntington-Whiteley and Kim Kardashian West.

Sturm said that the research for her line centered around the causes of inflammation. "Inflammation can be caused by lack of sleep, stress, diet, smoking, drinking, [and] air pollution," she stated.

Citing research from the the World Health Organization's State of Global Air report last year which claimed that 90 percent of the global population lives in areas of highly polluted air, Sturm added, "you can’t avoid where you live."

She explained, "The blue-light radiation from cellphone and computers that penetrates deeper into the skin than UVA and UVB rays combined" can also cause inflammation.

The new anti-pollution line is also claimed to have anti-aging properties. It uses a plant extract, purslane, believed to activate an enzyme that keeps the skin looking youthful and healthy. The drops use cocoa bean as a skin protector and also include a chelator which neutralizes heavy metals.

Each vial of drops retails for $145. They are available online and at Sturm's select Molecular Cosmetics retail partners.
