Damir Doma celebrates 10 years with a Farfetch capsule

Croatia-born designer Damir Doma is celebrating the 10-year anniversary of his eponymous label with an exclusive collection for Farfetch.

The anniversary collection is comprised of meaningful, storytelling pieces from different Damir Doma collections. Pieces such as the Infinity Coat from autumn 2010 and Drawstring Trousers from spring 2016 speak to Doma’s vision and aesthetic. Doma explained to Farfetch a number of design elements found in each piece, for instance the Infinity Coat features a selvage fabric shaped like an eight and the Kimono Jacket from spring 2011 is constructed like origami and can lay as one piece of material when laid flat.

“For me, it was important that these weren’t just the bestsellers but, let’s say, the most iconic pieces from the collections,” said Doma. “I needed to have some emotional connection to the pieces, which are for people who want to rebuy [items] that they used to have, maybe for collectors and people who like special things.” Doma fans and collectors can now get their hands on past popular pieces and current collection styles like the Belted Kimono Coat and Wilson Sleeveless Hoodie.

Doma launched his eponymous menswear label in 2006 and later launched a women’s line in 2010. Prior to launching his own line, Doma worked with Raf Simons and Dirk Schönberger. Doma considers his time with both designers as “a very important period.”

“I think you have to educate yourself,” Doma said. “I think it’s wrong to just go to school and expect that you can be taught how to become a fashion designer.”
