Decathlon likely to open in Israel

French sporting goods retailer Decathlon is likely to open its first stores in Israel. The news was reported by Israeli news channel i24 News, which gleaned the information from Israeli website Calcalist. Representatives from Decathlon have apparently met with Israeli developers, said the media report.

Decathlon's communications department explained that a team is indeed working on the project, but that nothing has yet been "acted upon or approved", stating that further information will be provided in the first quarter of 2017. 

Decathlon is present in over thirty countries, and in 2015 its consolidated business activities generated a revenue of €9.1 billion.
