Deckers Brands appoints Dave Powers as CEO

Apparel and accessories distributor Deckers Brands has appointed Dave Powers, the current company president, as CEO of the company with effect from May 31, 2016.

Powers will be succeeding Angel Martinez, who will retire as CEO by the end of the month but will continue to serve as chairman of the board of directors.

Prior to becoming the president of Deckers Brands, Powers served as president of omni-channel, where he was responsible for the global retail and e-commerce operations. Before this, he was the president of direct-to-consumer in the company.

He has served on several senior roles at Nike, Timberland and Gap before joining Deckers Brands.

Commenting on the appointment, Martinez said, “Throughout his career in retail and footwear, and especially during the past four years at Deckers, Dave has exhibited all the qualities that we’ve been looking for in the company’s next Chief Executive Officer.”

“Having worked closely with Dave and seeing what he has accomplished, I have great confidence that he is absolutely the right person to elevate our brands to new levels and drive the company forward,” Martinez added.

Additionally, Powers said, “I am honored to be entrusted with leading this great company and am truly appreciative of the confidence that Angel, the board of directors and management team continue to show in me.”

“I am eager to continue the tremendous progress the team has made building a stronger, more efficient organisation to support the many growth opportunities still ahead of us,” he added.
