It was one of Christian Dior's ardent wishes, and now at last his Provençal dream is alive again. The Château de La Colle Noire, Monsieur Dior's historic residence close to Grasse, in the South of France, has recently been renovated.

The Château de La Colle Noire

The designer enjoyed a very close relationship with the fragrance city of Grasse. One that had deep roots, dating back to the 1940s when, during the German occupation of France, he took refuge in Provence, a land which inspired some of his most iconic fragrances: Miss Dior, Eau Fraîche, Diorama, Diorissimo and Eau Sauvage.

Dior began to renovate the Château de La Colle Noire a few years before his death, which occurred in 1957 in Montecatini, Italy. He wanted to make the estate's land fertile again, intending, among other things, to use it to cultivate and harvest flowers for his perfumes. Dior's legacy now has an even greater presence in Grasse and, thanks to the renovation, conceived by the designer and completed by his fashion label, his dream is finally coming to life.
