According to a survey published on Wednesday by Adobe Analytics, the data analysis division of Adobe Systems, in the first quarter 2018 US consumers spent the record amount of $100 billion (€84 billion) in online purchases, driven by intense promotional activity.

E-sales were up 14.1% compared to the first three months of 2017, peaking during the promotional sprees for the Presidents’ Day and Martin Luther King Day long week-ends, noted Adobe Analytics.

“The sustained, fast-paced growth of online spending suggests that consumer confidence remains high, and we think that the stock market’s solid performance also contributes to the trend,” stated Sid Kulkarni, in charge of Adobe Digital Insights, another research division of Adobe Systems, in a press release.
