The award ceremony was held on Thursday during Berlin Fashion Week.

Edda Gimnes was selected by a panel of judges including Christiane Arp, editor-in-chief of Vogue Germany; Melissa Drier, German correspondent for WWD and John Cloppenburg, Member of the Executive Committee of Peek & Clopenburg, along with the new patron of the competition, Alber Elbaz.

The former Lanvin designer said he was impressed by the individuality and resourcefulness of the collections.

Established in 2009, the Designer for Tomorrow award provides young designers with a platform for their ideas and designs. It offers winners a 12-month sponsorship programme to support their careers.
