Eindhoven and Beverwijk new partner cities for Retail Innovation Agenda

The Dutch cities of Eindhoven and Beverwijk are the new partners of the Retail Innovation Agenda, the platform announced on 3 October after it held a partner meeting on 28 September.

Retail Innovation Agenda is a program that develops and implements solutions for the future of retail. It looks at current issues and the changing consumer demand, and how it can use innovation to respond to these issues. The platform partners with both businesses and the government. Together they join forces to implement their initiatives.

As new partners of Retail Innovation Agenda the cities of Eindhoven and Beverwijk will become living labs. Living labs can be described as test areas or test labs in which the platform tests retail innovations in physical stores, shopping areas and websites.

During the recent partner meeting the new partner cities presented some of their initiatives: the city of Eindhoven shared how it collects and uses data to monitor shopping areas, and the city of Beverwijk demonstrated how it develops an online platform that links property owners with potential tenants.

In addition to Eindhoven and Beverwijk, Retail Innovation Agenda's leading partnership is with The Hague, and is linked with the Southern city of Roermond. Other parties that work together with the innovation platform include: fashion retailer Shoeby; the Dutch Chamber of Commerce; FNV (federation of trade union); and education institute ROC, to name a few. Retail Innovation Agenda was established in 2016.
