Globe has delved into its history to mark its thirtieth anniversary. The Australian brand, now listed on the Sydney Stock Exchange, was founded by brothers Peter, Stephen and Matt Hill in the mid-1980s. The same trio is still connected to the brand today, with Matt Hill as the group's CEO.

The brothers have been skateboarding fanatics since their youth and began their entrepreneurial adventure by importing US products, later developing their own brand. "We never imagined we'd make a business out of skateboarding, explained the group's current boss. We only wanted to make sure we didn't have to find a job in order to skateboard." This is the story told in a 700-pages book featuring pictures and interviews and entitled 'Unemployable'.

From this work, a collection was born, to be showcased by Globe in Paris at the Citadium Caumartin department store, for three weeks starting from 29th February. The collection includes t-shirts featuring some of the book's key pictures, as well as simple graphics created ad hoc (from €35), a pair of chinos (€90), a wind-breaker (€90), a series of boards and also the re-edition of sneaker models by Rodney Mullen and Chet Thomas (€130).

Globe claims a network of 150 stores in France and 1,500 in Europe. The brand earned an ISPO award for its longboard and cruiser models incorporating a speaker (€300 and €250), and explained that, after quadrupling its European revenue in the last five years, it is now set to open a European e-commerce site next summer.

The group owns the Globe brand and is also the owner of Dwindle Distribution, whose portfolio features several board sport brands such as FXD, Enjoi, Blind, Almost, Darkstar, Speed Demons, Tensor, Gallaz and Cliché, founded in Lyon, France, by Jérémie Daclin. In 2014, the group generated a revenue of AUD104 million (€65 million).
