Harrods keen on Florence opening
Harrods is keen to expand in Italy, where it already has a temporary store in Porto Cervo, Sardinia. The temple of British luxury, flying the Qatari flag since 2010, is actively looking for a location in Florence, according to Italian media.
Executives from the sovereign investment fund Qatar Holding, which acquired the retailer for GBP1.5 billion (€1.7 billion), have already viewed several buildings, most of them former Florentine palaces. For the time being, they have not yet been able to find an ideal site in which to open a new store, which will be smaller than the historic London Harrods.
Apart from London, Harrods operates 11 stores within European and Asian airports.
