International Council of Shopping Centers appoints new Chairman

The International Council of Shopping Centers, ICSC, presented on Tuesday at the Expo Real in Munich its new Chairman, the CEO of Atrium Group, Josip Kardun.

Kardun said: “I feel very honored to succeed Alexander Otto in this function. I look forward to this new challenge and to strengthen the shopping center industry in Europe even further."

Josip Kardun has been a member of the ICSC European Advisory Board since 2008 and Vice-Chair since January 2015. The Chief Executive accumulated experience in development, construction and management of international property assets through his management position at Atrium. In this company he had also previously worked as Chief Investment Officer and Head of Mergers & Acquisitions, following a role as General Manager at Sierra Management Germany, a subsidiary of the Swiss operator of shopping centers, Sonae Sierra.

Over the last three years under the leadership of previous Chairman Alexander Otto, the International Council of Shopping Centers increased its members’ numbers from 2,000 to 7,000, and gained more influence in the European Parliament.

The ICSC, founded in 1957, aims to advance the shopping center industry in Europe and promote its role in the commercial distribution of consumer goods and services by providing educational programs, conducting meetings and collecting statistical data.
