In 2017, Italian women's footwear and handbags brand Giovanni Fabiani, founded in 1972 by the eponymous designer, generated a revenue of €21 million, slightly up over 2016. The brand's core business is shoes, which account for 80% of its revenue.

Talking to FashionNetwork.com at the Micam footwear show in Milan, Giovanni Fabiani said that "70% of our revenue comes from Russia, and 20% from China, while the rest is split among Italy, Europe and the Middle East. We are approaching Japan, where we exhibited at a few trade fairs, and where we would like to find a trading partner, as we are keen to do in Canada too."

However, in the near future the company is focusing on Europe and Italy: "Starting with the Autumn/Winter 2018-19 collection, we are collaborating with a multi-brand, Milan-based showroom to strengthen our presence in Italy, France, Germany and the UK. We are aiming to open a retail corner in at least one leading department store in each country, while we are not planning to go down the monobrand store route," he added.

As part of Giovanni Fabiani's new strategy targeting the European markets, the brand will exhibit at the White show in Milan, and it is developing a new range, less oriented to Russian taste and more consistent with that of the European countries the brand is keen to expand in.

Also, Giovanni Fabiani is beginning to benefit from the e-commerce site it launched internationally (China included) in February 2017.
