Paula Gerbase, the young designer known for her modern and sleek 1205 label, has been hired by John Lobb to lead and also probably to inject extra energy into the English shoemaker’s collections. The designer will begin her work at the company with the fall/winter 2015-16 collection.

"Within the Hermès group and at John Lobb, we approached the decision to appoint an artistic director with earnest intent,” said Lobb’s CEO, Renaud Paul-Dauphin. “We wish to bring a modern vision to the brand, whilst respecting its intrinsic values of craftsmanship.”

Paula Gerbase, behind the label 1205, will join John Lobb on July 1

Born in Brazil, but having adopted London as her hometown, Paula Gerbase studied at Central Saint Martins before gaining experience with Savile Row tailors such as Hardy Amies and Kilgour, who will celebrate the opening of its new flagship on Savile Row in a few days.

John Lobb will present its spring/summer collection 2015 on Sunday, June 15 in London.
