After launching into handbags in 2013 and footwear last year, British label Joseph has now introduced eyewear. The ready-to-wear label, whose style is in the hands of designer Louise Trotter since 2009, has signed a licence deal with Ego Eyewear, a Stockholm-based company founded in 1961 which, besides developing its own brands, is a licensed eyeglasses and sunglasses manufacturer for labels like Balmain, Cerruti and Kenzo.

The exclusive licence deal covers the design, production and distribution of Joseph eyeglasses and sunglasses worldwide. The first collection, for the Spring/Summer 2018, has recently been launched on the market, wrote Ego Eyewear in a press release. It was developed “working closely with the Creative Director of Joseph, Louise Trotter,” adopting a style which reflects the label’s distinctive, understated minimalism.

The collection is inspired by the label’s founder, Moroccan designer Joseph Ettedgui, who died in 2010, and by his renowned rounded glasses. Trotter juggled the proportions, broadening or reducing the size of the frames’ details, and playing with contrasting colours and motifs.

Joseph eyewear is available at the label’s stores - which also sell other ready-to-wear brands - at department stores, at various concept stores and selected optics retailers. The models are priced around €295.
