Liberty changes hands and management team

Published
Jun 28, 2010

Liberty changes hands. The British group, owner of the famous Liberty of London famous shops, announced in March that investors had it in for them. It is now that something has been done about it. The British firm has just wound up in the net of BlueGem Capital Partners.

Created by ex Merrill Lynch managers, funds were specialised in medium-sized business takeovers in Great Britain and in Italy. Following their buyback, Geoffrey de la Bourdonnaye, who was Chief executive for three years, has left his position but still remains on the non-executive board of directors.

He is replaced by Marco Capello as fund manager for all the company’s activity in Britain. He will work at Liberty alongside Ed Burstel, Managing Director of Liberty Retail, Sarah Halsall, retail director, Paul Harris (finance director) and finally Kirsty Carey in charge of Liberty fabrics.
