Luxottica signs 10-year licensing agreement with Valentino

Luxottica has conquered Valentino by winning over a new licensing agreement from its competitor, Marchon. The Italian group, a luxury eyewear leader, and the Roman fashion house owned by Mayhoola, an investors group in Qatar, announced in a news statement “a new and exclusive eyewear license agreement for the design, manufacture and worldwide distribution of Valentino eyewear.”  
 
The ten-year agreement will be effective as of January 2017, which will also be when the first collection presented under the agreement will be available on the market.

Valentino’s eyewear line was previously produced and distributed by Marchon, the third global operator of eyewear and member of the American group VSP. At the time, in 2012, Valentino left Safilo to embark in a long term partnership with Marchon…

Its current industry vision decided otherwise, as explains Valentino CEO, Stefano Sassi, in a press release: “The agreement with Luxottica has a strategic value in the growth process of the brand. I believe that Luxottica is the ideal partner to develop a project of great quality and consistent with our brand values in high-end eyewear […]”
