Luxury brand Sandriver launches in the U.S.

Luxury cashmere brand Sandriver on Friday announced its entry into the US market.

Founded by CEO Juliet Guo in Shanghai in 2002, Sandriver produces men’s and women’s ready-to-wear and accessories from cashmere sourced in the Alashan Plateau in Inner Mongolia.

The Inner Mongolian native and the Sandriver creative team, which is comprised of Japanese designer and multiple fashion award recipient Junko Koshino, French-Columbian artist Francesca Brenda-Mitterrand, and German and Chinese fashion designers Antje Weidner and Qin Wanyu, believe in “Slow Fashion” and refusing to meet the demands of the mass market.

"We live in such a throw-away culture,” said Guo. “If for anything, for the sake of the planet, there's a serious need to return to quality-made products that needn't be replaced after just one season. Fine cashmere comes at a price, but with proper care and attention, a garment can be worn and relished for years, potentially for decades.”

The cashmere brand sources its cashmere from Guo’s sourcing base of 30 local herding farms, some of which operate Guo’s family-owned grasslands. In addition, Sandriver produces its garments with the traditional craft of hand-nested knitting, an ancient stitch method that provides a range of elasticity, comfort and peak wear performance. Before a product launches it receives approval from Guo herself to ensure the brand’s zero-defunct policy.

Sandriver currently operates 11 stores in Asia and a global e-commerce website.
