There is a change at the very top for M.A.C Cosmetics. On 5th March, Philippe Pinatel will take over as Senior Vice President and Global General Manager of the make-up brand owned by the Estée Lauder group. Formerly the President and COO of subscription beauty kit pioneer Birchbox, Pinatel will report to John Demsey, Executive Group President of The Estée Lauder Companies, and will replace Karen Buglisi Weiler. The latter, an iconic figure at the brand, will leave the Estée Lauder group in December 2018, after working for 20 years at M.A.C Cosmetics.

Karen Buglisi Weiler has been worldwide President of M.A.C Cosmetics since 2010, and will work alongside Philippe Pinatel during a transition period lasting until the end of the group's current financial year, on 30th June. She will continue to act as a consultant for the group in North America.

Philippe Pinatel began his career at cosmetics group Clarins. In 1999, he joined Guerlain, where he was notably General Manager South Korea, and then General Manager France from 2007 to 2010. He then joined selective perfumery retailer Sephora, owned by the LVMH group, for which he was in charge of the Canadian market, before joining Birchbox in 2015.

M.A.C Cosmetics is present in 3,400 stores in 106 countries.
