Mango cancels its Fashion Awards

Is this the end of the Mango Fashion Awards? After being postponing its decision earlier in the summer, the Mango Fashion Awards - which aims to support young talent in the fashion industry - has officially been cancelled. The Spanish brand cites internal organizational issues but the Spanish press seems to believe there has been at change of heart at the company.

Management at the company has said that the award “did not reach its primary objective of helping push young talent to the international stage” and that the brand will “study other ways in which it can support emerging talent”. A re-launch is not looking likely then, it seems.

With 300,000 euros worth of prize money, the fifth edition of the Mango Fashion Awards was set to be one of the most important in the industry. Over the past five editions, the awards have supported designers such as Sandrina Fasoli and Michaël Marson, Lee Jean Youn, Lena Lumelsky and Wisharawish Akarasantisook, who took home the prize last year.
