Five years after Monki entered the French market with a store in the Haussmann area in Paris, the fashion retailer owned by the H&M group inaugurated a new showcase in the French capital on 2nd March. The 610 m2 store is the brand's largest in the world.

Monki was created in 2006 by the founders of Cheap Monday and Weekday, and its new Parisian store is located at the former premises of another H&M retailer, Bershka, which moved just across the street. The new store's interiors have an upbeat, highly Instagrammable feel. The furniture, blending metal finishes and rounded shapes, adds to the cheerful atmosphere the brand likes to provide for its customers.

On opening day, Monki decided to offer a 40% discount on purchases to the store's first 200 customers, and a 20% one to shoppers throughout the day. The opening gave the brand, known for its feminist stance, the opportunity to encourage its French fans to make their presence felt on social media, via the #monkistyle hashtag.

France is one of the top six countries for Monki in terms of online sales, and 5.8% of Monki social media followers come from France (and 39% of these from Paris). Monki currently operates over 115 stores in 14 countries.
