New Look, the British young fashion retailer, just released its full-year figures for the year to March 26, 2016, when it saw revenue increase by 5.4% to £1.5bn.

In its FY16 annual report, the retailer further details advances made during the year and its plan for the future. One of New Look's main success stories in the period was its expansion of the menswear category. The retailer says that even though menswear has a 25% share of the UK market, it accounts for just 3% of New Look's business, so the company decided to make this an area of focus.

Positive customer reactions led New Look to open more standalone menswear stores in the UK - the latest one just opened at the Bluewater shopping centre in Kent. The new menswear stores received an 89% approval rating from customers and New Look now has 0.4% of the entire UK menswear market. It said it's "confident" about achieving further growth.

Another focus for the retailer in the FY16 period was international growth, and its total number of international stores increased to 171 in the period. This was mainly due to New Look's ongoing Chinese expansion, and it says it has seen strong like-for-like growth in Chinese stores opened for more than 12 months. New Look also revealed that it will launch its first owned stores in Germany this year, to complement its local language website.

New Look also said its French business benefited from further investment in refurbishment. It opened two new stores in the country in the period. New Look also opened four new stores in Poland in FY16.
