New customers and SS17 collection send Matchesfashion sales soaring over Christmas

The festive period saw revenue soar by 82% at Matchesfashion, the luxury fashion retailer offering creations from more than 400 designers to affluent customers worldwide.

In the six weeks to January 8, average order values rose by 16%, according to The Times. The growth was driven by new customers, non-UK shoppers and the new spring-summer collection.

Orders were taken every seven seconds and one customer even spent £94,000 on designer items, said executive chairman Ruth Chapman.

Matchesfashion trades from five stores in London as well as an online website, which ships to 190 countries. The luxury retailer has placed a particular focus on improving its online offering over recent years, taking the proposition one step further by launching a 90-minute delivery service in London in November.

“The move to mobile and app is the driving engine of our growth. We’ve invested significantly in technology to improve the customer experience and, as we can see, that investment has seen consequent industry leading growth,” said chief executive Ulric Jerome.

Matchesfashion’s edit of established and emerging designers include Balenciaga, Gucci, Saint Laurent, Valentino, Dolce & Gabbana and Vetements.
