New-look Myer opens at Westfield Warringah, Brisbane's North Lakes unveils Ikea

Australia’s Scentre Group has opened around A$500m worth of redeveloped malls in Sydney and Brisbane this week. The company manages Westfield malls in Australia and New Zealand.

The Westfield Warringah Mall in Sydney, includes the first new look Myer store and has benefitted from a A$310m refurbishment that adds new parking spaces and valet parking to cope with ether expected footfall increase following its revamp.

In total the developer had added 14,000 sq m of new space to the mall.

And the suburban Brisbane Westfield North Lakes mall has been given a A$170m extension in addition to a spend of A$80m last year.

The Myer store at Warringah has been closed for nine months and has been transformed with 60 new brands, including Topshop and the new John Lewis homewares concept.

It also features trend galleries where clothes are merchandised by outfit, the retailer’s digest-ever Sunglass Hut concession,’shoe runners’ who can scan shoes to check on available sizes, extra customer service staff, a click-and-collect hub, free wifi, and a new personal shopping suite.

Elsewhere in the mall, there are new stores for Sephora, H&M, a new Country Road concept store, Scotch & Soda, Cotton On, Tommy Hilfiger, Seed Lululemon and Nike.

Meanwhile at Westfield North Lakes includes, a new IKEA is linked to the main 13-year-old centre by a new gallery mall containing 60 stores. It includes anchor tenants Kmart and Rebel Sport. The opening Thursday marked Ikea’s second store in Queensland.
