Paris haute couture: strong shapes and high shine at Alexandre Vauthier

All eyes were on the French designer who was awarded the right to use the prestigious haute couture label last December. As his runway show at Rue Cambon on Tuesday proved, this is one man on a mission to flaunt his technical brilliance and cement his place among couture royalty.

Vauthier's silhouettes have always been a hit with modern-day glamorous urban divas like Beyoncé, Kim Kardashian, Rihanna, and Heidi Klum. All of whom continue to give the designer's sensational creations fabulous exposure.

The designer's latest collection, which overflowed with empowering silhouettes featuring luxurious craftsmanship like delicate embroidery by Maison Lesage, is sure to earn him even more exposure.

Brazilian model of the moment and current Vauthier muse Iza Goulart looked sublime in an all-black wet-look python-print jumpsuit. Elsewhere, brilliant white ensembles (sharp jackets worn with bodysuits) shone bright like diamonds. Not hard to spot the "Rihanna appeal"!

Magnificent floor-grazing screen siren-inspired dresses and figure-hugging capri pants were awash with glittering sequins while a pair of bejeweled knickers was another show stopper.

Strategically-placed lingerie-esque cutouts and body-sculpting mesh inserts added emphasis to the waistline, hip bone, legs and thighs, and were a telling reminder of Vauthier's time at Italian underwear label La Perla.

Vauthier's vision was applauded by front-row guests including all-influential former French Vogue editor Carine Roitfeld and actress Emmanuelle Seigner to whom he instagrammed a message of thanks for coming to the show.
