Sino-Canadian luxury ready-to-wear label Ports 1961, owned by Ports International Enterprises Ltd., has turned over a new leaf, after the appointment of Jenny Tan as CEO and Matteo De Rosa as Managing Director. Both top managers have been in charge since December 2016.

Ports International Enterprises Ltd. is active in the fashion, media, real estate and technology industries - it notably distributes Armani and Versace in China. The group stated in a press release it has hired "the new generation of its [owners'] family in order to speed up the expansion of the Ports 1961 luxury label."

Jenny Tan is the daughter of Edward Tan, who founded the company in 1993 with his brother Alfred Chan, after purchasing the label which was created in Toronto in 1961. Jenny Tan has been active in the group for 20 years, and took over from Salem Cibani, who is connected to the other branch of the family. Cibani will still have an operational role in China, "and will no longer be involved in the European and American businesses," said the group.

Jenny Tan will be supported by Matteo De Rosa, 36, who joined Ports 1961 in 2014, taking charge of the label's commercial expansion and then of accessories. De Rosa formerly worked at LVMH fragrances and Ernst & Young.

The fashion label set up its headquarters in Milan in 2013, and used to show there until last season. In 2017 Ports 1961 decided to leave Italy's fashion capital in favour of the London Fashion Week, where on Saturday 18th February it will unveil its new Autumn/Winter 2017-18 women's ready-to-wear collection designed by Nataša Cagalj, the label's Creative Director since 2014, while Milan Vukmirovic is in charge of menswear.

Ports 1961 is distributed worldwide via some 150 multi-brand stores and four flagship stores in Paris, New York, Hong Kong and Shanghai.
