MOSCOW, May 19, 2009 (AFP) - More than 300 pieces created by the celebrated House of Faberge jewellery firm, including nine of its famous jewel encrusted eggs, go on display from Wednesday 20 May at Moscow's Pushkin Museum of Fine Arts.

"The art of the Faberge house from the end of the 19th century and the start of the 20th century is a world phenomenon. It's a big success for us to be able to show it," curator Irina Antonava told reporters on Tuesday.

The collection is made up of pieces purchased over the past five years by the billionaire Russian industrialist Victor Vekselberg.

In April 2004, Vekselberg bought nine Faberge eggs from the American family of the late Malcolm Forbes, publisher of Forbes Magazine, for over 100 million dollars.

The exhibition runs until June 28.
