Rent the Runway creates new collab with Marchesa Notte

Published

Marchesa Notte, the lower-priced brand by Georgina Chapman and Keren Craig of Marchesa, has created a line of reasonably priced tops for the digital fashion site Rent the Runway. The average price is about $345 to buy one. However, cost-conscious shoppers can rent one for $60. In 2015, the designers also did a special line of cocktail dresses for the site.

"Since the launch of our Notte brand, our customers have requested a wider selection of separates and this is the perfect opportunity to give women the option to wear Marchesa for any occasion,” founders Georgina Chapman and Keren Craig said of the collaboration.

Rent the Runway is a clothing rental site founded in 2009 by two female Harvard MBA's. It rents gowns, cocktail dresses, jewelry and evening bags to women wanting a special look for one occasion.  The pay-per-rent price for a look by the likes of Versace, Missoni, Cushnie et Ochs, Vera Wang, etc., is anywhere from $30 to $600. But there are yearly memberships for $65 per month for a specified amount of rentals; and an unlimited membership for $139 per month.

Rent the Runway entered into the retail fray by selling older rental pieces at substantially reduced prices. The result was so resounding they decided to offer all their looks to rent - or to buy, at the full retail price.

Marchesa Notte is one of the site's top performing collections, as it's perfect for special occasions.
The capsule is the label’s first-ever expansion into tops, which feature pleated tulle, chiffon sleeves and cold-shoulder silhouettes.
