Retailer Parfois to open store in Amsterdam

Portuguese accessories retailer Parfois will be opening a new store in the Netherlands. In March, the retailer will land at Amsterdam’s Kalverstraat 53, which will be its seventh Dutch branch.

The 300 m2 store, divided over the ground-, first-, second- and third floor, will be located in a building that used to house womenswear chain Superstar. Kalverstraat is known as the Netherlands’ most popular shopping street and hosts a number of Dutch retailers as well as international brands, including Hunkemöller, Hema, Saks Off Fifth and Under Armour.

Parfois offers accessories for women, ranging from handbags and footwear to watches and sunglasses. The products retail between €1.40 for a hair tie up to €49.99 for a pair of boots.

In April 2017 Parfois unveiled its first Dutch flagship store in the city of Eindhoven, soon branches followed across the country, including Utrecht, Rotterdam, Amstelveen, The Hague, Zwolle, and now Amsterdam. 

Previous to opening its first flagship store, Parfois was already available to Dutch customers since it had a long-time relationship with former department chain, V&D. At the department store chain the Portuguese retailer operated a number of shop-in-shops. In December 2015 V&D went bankrupt and Parfois was then only available to the Dutch customer via its online shop.

Parfois launched in 1994 and was created by Manuela Medeiros. Today, the retailer has over 700 stores in 55 countries. In the coming two years, Parfois plans to open 15 more locations in the Netherlands, aiming to become a well known name in the Dutch high streets. In the Netherlands, Parfois is operated by Parfection, which is headquartered in Oud-Beijerland.
