The casual, urban style for guys and girls, who is currently the leading vendor of male fashion in Spain will initially operate its online store only there in its homeland, with a view to extend its coverage.

The brand has 693 stores across some 40 markets, with nearly half of its outlets being located abroad.

Grupo Cortefiel’s new e-commerce structure is also reinforced with the creation of a “virtual” store room in its new Aranjuez distribution centre. Highly automated, the more than 100,000 m2 of floor space provides the online business with a dedicated picking and packing section, thus ensuring greater availability of products and sizes.

“Our online strategy includes the launch of all our brands and expansion into key international markets, beginning with the UK, Portugal, France and Russia”, explains Patricia Benito de Mateo, director of Ecommerce at Grupo Cortefiel.

“We are expecting the online channel to represent between 3% and 6% of the Group’s total sales, depending on the development of electronic trading in the markets in which we are present”, she adds. According to a recent study on the online consumer carried out by ISEM Fashion Business School in collaboration with Grupo Cortefiel, 48% of Spaniards shop on the internet.

In the coming months, Grupo Cortefiel , founded in 1988, plans to continue implementing its ecommerce strategy with the launch of online stores for its other brands Pedro del Hierro and Cortefiel.
