Style Network to lasso Texas socialites

LOS ANGELES (Hollywood Reporter) - Style Network has ordered a new reality series about the world of mother-daughter socialites.

"Mothers and Daughters of Dallas" comes after the success of reality shows on other networks such as, pictured above, the "Real Housewives of Atlanta" on Bravo (Photo: Reuters)

In "Mothers and Daughters of Dallas" (the show's working title), the Comcast-owned fashion-themed network will tell the stories of wealthy women in the Lone Star State as they struggle to maintain their status. The series will follow the lives of four mothers and daughters inhabiting a privileged community ruled by shopping, gossip and keeping up appearances.

"Everything is bigger in Texas -- the attitudes, the hair, the jewelry and the lavish lifestyles that bond these mothers and daughters," said Salaam Coleman Smith, president of Style. "Viewers will get to know the funny, outrageous and obsessive mothers and daughters at the top of the Dallas social scene and will go inside a world that that has not been explored before."

Socialite docu-soaps have worked well for other cable networks, particularly Bravo with its "Real Housewives" franchise. Style has ordered eight hours of "Mothers and Daughters," which will premiere this fall.
