Uterqüe opens first store in Poland with new mid-century modern look

Published

Inditex’s Uterqüe has opened its first store in Poland at the designer gallery in Warsaw’s Galeria Mokotów.

The opening is the second location globally to feature the new store concept, first rolled out by the Spanish brand this autumn.

The new Uterqüe store is the second to get the brand's new design concept

The look is inspired by the mid-century modern movement of the 1950s and also features a reworked Uterqüe logo with a font “characterised by more organic, refined and minimalist lines,” said the retailer.

The company said it wants to link to visual arts to “imbue the brand’s collections with more contemporary values,” and the new design will see the brand supporting exhibitions, collaborating with sector experts and showcasing new artist talent. The art connection will carry through into Uterqüe’s shop windows and its store interiors too, as well as influencing upcoming collections.

The stores are now being designed in a style that has a strong Scandinavian influence with custom-made furniture, eco lighting and floors covered with Persian rugs. All stores are dotted with decorative pieces and works of art, plus “cult objects” in pottery, iron and bronze.

The new look was unveiled first at its new 180 square metre store in Braga, Portugal, where the brand now has five locations

Created in 2008 Uterqüe is Inditex’s youngest brand, which has over 70 stores globally. It has entered 14 new markets this year with Poland being the latest. Other market entries include Bulgaria, Croatia, Slovakia, Slovenia, Estonia, Finland, Hungary, Italy, Latvia, Lithuania, Malta, the Czech Republic and Romania.
