Valentino opens first Australian standalone

Published
Dec 23, 2016

Valentino has officially set up home in Australia. The luxury Italian label has opened a brand new flagship in Melbourne, sitting pretty in the Victorian capital's recently unveiled Chadstone shopping centre

Valentino finally calls Australia home with new Melbourne store - Valentino

Located in the heart of the luxury mall, the debut Valentino store covers 370 square metres and carries both womenswear and menswear product categories across ready-to-wear, accessories and fragrances.

The retail launch is the latest in a string of 160 mono-brand store openings operated by the Italian luxury label, which is now owned by the Mayhoola investment company belonging to the Qatari royal family.

The Melbourne store interior design is by the label's creative director, Pierpaolo Piccioli, working together with British architect David Chipperfield. The decor features lavish materials such as Carrara marble, brass, wood and glass.

At the time of its first unveiling earlier in the year, Valentino in a statement described the new format as a blend of antique and contemporary style, creating "something of a palace atmosphere."

Valentino's Australia entry follows a store unveiling in Doha at the recently opened Mall of Qatar in December.
