In the past, pre-collections attracted little attention. But in the last few seasons they have taken up centre stage, as leading fashion labels organise major, high-visibility shows in iconic venues to present them. After Chanel, Dior, Louis Vuitton and Gucci, it is now Valentino's turn to do so.

In recent seasons, the luxury label's choice has been to present its women's pre-collection in New York. This winter it will do the same, but with a change in format. For the first time in fact, the Valentino 2017 cruise collection will be unveiled at a runway show, scheduled for 11th January.

It will be the second Valentino collection designed by Pierpaolo Piccioli alone, after the collection presented in Paris last October.

For the time being, the Italian luxury label owned by the Qatari royal family's investment company Mayhoola has not disclosed any detail about the event.
