Versace has opened its largest flagship store in Asia at the recently developed Shanghai Commercial Bank building in Hong Kong. The store has opened in down town Central despite a significant slowdown in the Hong Kong retail sector.

The Italian luxury maison has established the mega store across the ground and second floors of the Shanghai Commercial Bank building located on 12 Queen's Road. Versace's latest store covers 12,600 square feet and sells men's and women's apparel, jewellery and accessories.

To welcome the new flagship, Versace has designed a limited-edition mini Palazzo Empire handbag. The handbag is embellished with silver Swarovski crystals and includes a detachable leather shoulder strap and a palladium Medusa head, the Versace moniker.

“For me the boutique suggests an uninterrupted dialogue between our past and our future, between Versace and our clients,” said Donatella Versace in a statement.

Shanghai Commercial Bank's David Kwok Sek-chi disclosed to local media that Versace has signed a three-year fixed contract followed by a flexible contract for another three years thereafter.

Versace currently has two retail stores in Hong Kong in Admiralty and Tsim Sha Tsui with Central taking its domestic store count to three.
