Mustang is expanding its top management team by welcoming Volker Schmidt as chief sales officer as of this May. Schmidt was at fashion brand Mexx until last summer, where he held the position of global head of wholesale. Prior to that, he spent 10 years at Esprit developing the brand’s partner store network.

At the Mustang group, he will head up wholesale activity not just in Germany but internationally too. Schmidt will be in charge of Mustang Jeans and Bogner Jeans, the licensed denim line of premium German ski brand Bogner. He will report directly to CEO Dietmar Axt, who took over the reins of the company in 2011 following the acquisition by investment fund ACapital.

Mustang reported revenues of 90 million euros in 2012, 45% of which is generated by retail sales.
