Russian quality agency Roskáchestvo said several Zara and Mango shirts do not meet the country's mandatory safety and quality requirements due to poor air permeability.
After studying the composition of 29 garments across a variety of labels, the agency concluded that at least two shirts from brands Zara and Mango did not meet the parameters of breathability of the Eurasian Customs Union, which also includes Belarus and Kazakhstan.
The watchdog entity has forwarded this information to another institution, which has the power to ban the sale of particular goods and services in the country.
Other violations included the lack of comprehensive information on the label of a Mango shirt, as it did not clearly indicate the fibre content.
From all 29 items, only six met all quality and safety standards required by national legislation. These included garments from four Russian brands, one Belarusian brand and one from Sweden’s H&M.
