Phillip Lim - Collection Spring/Summer 2015 New York

For the Philip Lim show we were taken into the soft, intimate setting of a bedroom, which translated directly to the clothes which featured rounded edges, especially on the tops which looked like petals. It was all about comfort and lightness, which was easy to wear but still made in sublime materials like silk or in voluminous gazar. The judo belts and the zips took on a sporty and urban edge, which is so essential in New York.Interview: Phillip Lim: I really pushed the idea of femininity and the feminine form, you know what I mean, I think that in the past we have always tempered the idea of masculine/feminine (with) oversized, shapeless shapes, you know what I mean? This time I’m like no, let’s get a shape, and work around the body, you know what I mean. It’s the most sensual collection I’ve ever done, I think that even the idea of bedrooms, it’s very intimate and sensual in itself, so we also pushed the idea of the character in the bedroom. This time I was looking at David Hamilton pictures, the beautiful moods of the 70s, that sensuality and trying to capture those kind of emotions through colour.Music from the show.
