Tory Burch- Womenswear Show Autumn/Winter 2015/16 in New York

On the Upper East Side of Manhattan, the American designer Tory Burch takes us between Morocco and Chelsea. The tapestry designs from Essaouira and from Marrakesh are found on coats in jacquard, on the fluid dresses in crepe de chine, on the jumpers in merino wool. No fuss, just an ultra-feminine and comfortable wardrobe, created in luxurious materials and warm colours. To note: all the jeweled accessories in a very successful oriental style.Interview: Tory Burch: I’ve always sort of loved Morocco, but this time I thought it was an interesting challenge that sort of Chelsea meets Morocco and it was such an interesting time and when people are living in London in the late 60s early 70s, Morocco was a big influence, there were always women going and carrying rugs back, so how did we take that concept and make it modern and sexy? We did a lot of research and sort of taking tapestries how do we do it in a way where they’re not heavy and encumbering and how do we do bias cuts and engineered where your body looks beautiful, it was a lot about proportion and fit, and the engineering. Everything is about layering, and we don’t want to be so stiff and structured because I feel that it is about comfort and how do you, and women are busy now and want to look chic and put together, but they want to be comfortable in the process.
