080 Barcelona Fashion to spotlight emerging international talents

The Barcelona Fashion Week continues its transformation process. Last February, the event deployed a strategy of attracting quality labels, in order to boost its international appeal while preserving a local feel. The programme for the event’s 25th edition, scheduled at the Recinto Modernista de Sant Pau from February 3 to 6, is further proof of this new positioning.

The 080 Barcelona Fashion show is scheduled from February 3 to 6 - 080 Barcelona Fashion

The theme for this edition remains the same as in the most recent ones, ‘Undress Your Mind’, epitomising modernity and constant change, two elements 080 Barcelona Fashion is very keen on. The next winter edition of the Barcelona Fashion Week will feature a string of new names, as well as several established local labels. Menswear label Alled Martínez, whose designer graduated from the prestigious Central Saint Martins school, won the LVMH emerging talent prize in 2018. After taking part in Paris Fashion Week in January, Alled Martínez will show on the last day of 080 Barcelona Fashion, on the same day as Laagam, founded by influencer Inés Arroyo, which will be staging its maiden show. The event will end with the show of Avellaneda, by designer Juan Avellaneda.

080 Barcelona Fashion’s strategy of blending local and international designers, heralded last February with a memorable show by Turkish designer Umit Benan, continues this year with several foreign names on the programme. Chulaap, a South African label featuring colourful prints and distinctive graphic designs, will show again in Barcelona on February 3, while Peruvian-Japanese designer Esaú Yori is also returning to the Catalan capital, showing on February 4. On the same day, Iranian-German designer Boris Bidjan Saberi, based in Barcelona, will showcase his own brand of urban fashion.

New York-based Argentinian designer Diego Binetti will show his Love Binetti womenswear line on the event’s third day, alongside Greek tailor Yiorgos Eleftheriades, who has already presented his creations in Athens, Milan and Paris. The programme features 24 shows, as opposed to 27 in the previous edition, and also includes a series of Catalan fashion industry regulars, like Custo Barcelona, Naulover, Txell Miras, Oscarleon and Pablo Erroz.

080 Barcelona Fashion was established under the aegis of the business and knowledge department of the Catalonian Council for crafts, commerce and fashion, and this season it will pay tribute to designer Andrés Sardá, who died a few months ago. The event’s commercial dimension will be boosted by the 080 Barcelona Fashion Showroom, which will present 15 labels.
