AMI opens London store

Published
Apr 8, 2016

Five. It is the number of AMI stores now operational worldwide. After his three Paris stores and the one in Tokyo, Alexandre Mattiussi notched up another opening in London, at 75 Duke Street in the Mayfair district. And the next opening is planned in Hong Kong.

The London store extends over 240 m2 and was created by the KO design agency - which is working on all AMI stores - and showcases the brand's ready-to-wear collections in an ambience that recalls a Parisian flat.

The store occupies premises which formerly housed a bar and art gallery, and is built around a ground floor drenched in natural light, with a concrete and wood flooring decorated with a geometric motif inspired by a Roman mosaic. The fitting rooms are made of cork and thick canvas screens, and the walls switch between bricks and giant mirrors.

Among the interiors' other notable details, there are a series of portraits, a vintage TV and a sculpture in the shape of a bust wearing the designer's star accessory, a red beanie hat.

London is regarded as a major market by AMI, which is already available on the Mr Porter.com and Matchesfashion.com websites, as well as at Harrods and Selfridges department stores. In its new showcase, Alexandre Mattiussi will present a series of exclusive items.

Among them, an oversize sweatshirt featuring the same geometric motif to be found on the wooden floors, black sneakers and a a black waxed cotton raincoat.
