Altr launches Selfridges iridescent sneaker collaboration

Published
Feb 7, 2019

Luxury footwear brand Altr has announced an exclusive iridescent collaboration with Selfridges as the UK department store continues to focus heavily on exclusive and limited edition product and as the iridescence trend is set to be key for 2019.

Altr x Selfridges

The custom-made sneakers, available at the retailer’s London flagship store on Oxford Street, consist of a low panel sneaker, and panel runner, with prices starting from £240. They’re available in three different types of iridescent materials, which we’re told were “hand-picked by Selfridges.”

The Altr story is an interesting one that plays on the trend for smaller runs and not-available-everywhere shoes for which a price premium can be charged.

Launched in 2017 by footwear developer Chris Margetts, it offers brands and stores “the opportunity to enhance their collections and offer individually designed, made-to-order luxury footwear to customers.”

The concept sees brands able to collaborate with the company to create unique luxury footwear collections, “with ever-changing seasonal materials and silhouettes that can be customised” through the firm’s website.

And the business model also works well with the fast pace of some shoe trends as the company says that “stores can expect a fast turnaround, and low minimum order quantities greatly reduce any risk of surplus stock.”
