Amazon UK plans 'biggest ever' Black Friday sale

Published

Amazon has announced a series of initiatives, including an augmented reality feature, the new ‘try before you buy’ fashion service and a London pop-up for its “biggest ever” Black Friday sale.

Running from 16-25 November, the sales event will see discounts applied to some of the e-tailer's most popular categories, including consumer electronics, games, fashion, jewellery, beauty, home items.

In addition to ‘Deals of the Day’, there will be ‘Lightning Deals’ with deeper discounts offered on a limited number of products for a short period of time.

This year, Amazon is using tech to boost online demand. The company has just announced a new augmented reality (AR) tool which helps mobile shoppers visualise an item in their home. The feature, available in the Amazon app, shows digital renderings of products on top of real environments through a customer's phone screen.

Additionally, Amazon’s new try before you buy’ service, Prime Wardrobe, will be available to Amazon Prime members looking for Black Friday deals. The service allows members to try on their orders before deciding what to keep.

And mobile shoppers can use camera search to find items based on an image or barcode, track their parcels in the Amazon app, and set Watch-a-Deal alerts.

An Amazon Home of Black Friday pop-up store will open at 3-10 Shoreditch High Street in London, on 22-25 November. Open to the public, the temporary space will showcase a selection of Black Friday deals and innovative shopping experiences, such as workshops, product sampling, and VIP events.
